The Mythology & Meaning Behind The Talisman

In Celtic folklore, Blackthorn stands at the threshold. Its twisted limbs and hidden thorns mark the edge of the forest, the in-between space where endings and beginnings blur, and where transformation takes root.

It is closely tied to the Cailleach, the crone goddess of storms, winter and ancient earth magic. A keeper of cycles, she embodies the strength found in shadow, the endurance of the land through harsh seasons and the deep, steady wisdom that comes with time.

Blackthorn has long been used for protection. Traditionally, its wood was carved into staffs and marked with the thorn rune to ward against harm. This talisman carries that same lineage as a wearable echo of those older protections.

• The pendant measures approximately 47mm in height, with a slender silhouette. Each piece weighs around 5g, giving it a light but grounding presence.
• Cast in solid 925 sterling silver, never plated, and finished by hand to honour the natural textures.
  
• Shipping within the UK is free, and worldwide shipping is just £10. Express worldwide shipping is also available.
  
• All materials are ethically sourced and crafted with care, in a way that treads lightly on the earth.

Choosing your chain length & style

You can choose between a ball chain or belcher chain, with multiple lengths available to suit how you like to wear your pieces. Chain length is the total length of the chain from end to end.

• 18–20" sits around the collarbone, with 20" resting close to the heart and being the most commonly chosen length.
• 22–24" falls slightly lower on the chest, ideal for everyday wear or layering.
• 26–30" creates a longer, more statement silhouette, especially suited to larger talismans.

If you’re unsure, 20" is a balanced and widely loved choice. If the length doesn’t feel quite right, I’m always happy to exchange your chain.

Each talisman is handmade to order and will be ready to ship in approximately 4–6 weeks. This may extend slightly during busier periods.
